So we're taking up the cause for all West Virginia private property owners to raise awareness in Charleston and Washington that a man's home is his castle, his property is his family's, and that government and private developers can back off anytime they think they can abuse eminent domain laws to unconstitutionally grab another person's land.

What [cities] cannot do is take property from A and give it to B just because B promises to create more jobs and taxes with the land. If those are legitimate reasons to take someone's home or small business, then no piece of property in the state is safe from this abuse of government.

It's a ratty old area that I thought I could build on. The reason I bought this land is I figured out how to build on the triangular piece.

These developers are buying land, knowing it's on the San Andreas fault, and if you deny (their projects), they say you're denying them their property rights.

This is quite a place. The views are absolutely spectacular. You got to try and stay focused on your game and not look too much at the views.

Property developers are enjoying profit growth driven by rising rent and land prices in urban areas. The demand for offices is still strong.

This is just proper procedure when buying land. We want to make sure it is a clean piece of property that will eventually be useable.

If the government takes a person's land to build a highway, the property owner is compensated. If the government takes the use of a person's land to protect a rare species, however, the property owner is not compensated. This inequity must be addressed.

When transferring property by way of sale the land owner needs to state the price for which he is selling. If the land is not being sold, but is being given as a gift then the value of the property must also be disclosed.

I wanted a piece of property where we could grow and get bigger. And it was hard to find that much. But because this had been a dairy, the land had already been cleared, which eliminated an additional expense for us.
