We still need to get points and make sure that we at least finish third in the West. But it is a good game to put Wednesday behind us and hopefully move forward.

These are just opportunities to evaluate players as we move forward, but you don't make decisions based on one game. We didn't play our best game on Tuesday. And the guys really responded and had a really good practice (Wednesday) and it showed. ... The defense tonight is the way we want to move forward. It's a process, so we're seeing it more and more.

We needed to play an 'A' game and not a 'B' game. But the boys responded well. They played hard, put West under pressure - West is good, physical, (with) good team speed - and we just needed to close some of those chances down and get forward ourselves.

We could not move forward in good conscience and incur any debt to finish out the pops series. Hopefully, the steps we are taking now will ensure the future of this symphony orchestra for generations to come.

You can't make a grave move with 60 laps to go. It's a lack of patience, ... If a guy is not in the points, he doesn't have to take your points away. He went from hero to zero -- to be in the pole position and then to make a move like he did.

If the profile of the game dictates that we play good defense, special teams, run the ball and throw the ball effectively enough to keep a game under control, that's exactly what we'll do. At the end of the game, it's about our pitching, and if our pitching does well from this point forward, we're going to have a good season. Our two freshmen [Lindsay Littlejohn and Stacey Nelson] have to make some adjustments. If we do that, then we'll finish strong.

Were not going to keep Michael at 11 or 14 points. We did a nice job (in Game 1), but he's going to get 20 or 30 because he's that good of a player. What we've got to do is make him earn those and make him be a volume scorer. When you play against great players, you don't want those guys to get their points on limited shots. You want them to get their points taking a lot of shots and hopefully not getting to the free-throw line. That has to be our main focus.
