Last year as great ordsprog

Last year, as great as it was, it was like a fairy tale season. I think we appreciate this a heck of a lot more than we did the Fiesta Bowl bid last year.

I was a great reader of fairy tales. I tried to read the entire fairy tale section of the library: Andrew Lang's Blue Fairy Book, Red Fairy Book, and so on, probably down to the Puce or Chartreuse fairy tales.

It's like two years ago. We lost two games but still won the Fiesta Bowl. It's been a great four-year career. You've seen a little bit of everything.

Tolkien reintroduced the world of fairy tale to a new audience. It was a very traditional image of fairy tale -- elves, dwarves, trolls, dragons, wizards. Those have all come out of fairy tales. But Tolkien put the whole thing on the map, ... A lot of that stuff is traditional material that he has codified and rationalized in a kind of 20th-century way.

Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.

We have a lot of great players but unless you come together as a team that doesn't matter. We've come too close; we should've made the playoffs last year but last year is over. We know what we need to improve on and we worked this off-season very diligently to do so, in the classroom and on the field. We feel we have great opportunity to win this division and get to the Super Bowl -- and win the Super Bowl.

It was all for Jerome. We were going to fight for him. I'm just so happy for him. The way he ended his career, to win a Super Bowl in his own town, is a fairy tale come true.

There's a bit of a strange twist to my ending – I won't say what. I was anxious not to abandon the romance, the fairy tale, the magic in this ballet but at the same time I wanted to reach that from an everyday world, for him to create that romantic notion of an ideal woman for himself – not to go skipping through some fairy-tale woods and stumble across an enchanted swan-woman.

När man var liten trodde man på sagor, fantasin om hur livet skulle bli, vit klänning, en charmig prins som skulle föra bort en till ett slott på en kulle. Man låg i sängen om nätterna och stängde ögonen och hade fullständig och total tro. Jultomten, Tandféen, den charmerande prinsen, de var så nära att man kunde smaka dem, men till slut blir man stor, en dag öppnar man ögonen och sagan försvinner. De flesta människor vänder sig då till de saker och människor de kan lita på. Men det är svårt att släppa taget om sagan helt och hållet eftersom nästan alla har den minsta gnista hopp, av tro, att en dag ska de öppna ögonen och den ska bli sann.

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

During my childhood I didn't need to hear stories about evil ogres eating children and so forth; the foreign devils my mother told me about were more barbaric and cruel than any fairy tale ogre with a huge mouth and great fangs. And fairy tales are only fairy tales, whereas my mother's stories were 100 percent factual, and they directly affected our whole family.

We just get what we deserve. Pex Tufvesson rules the demo scene. We didn't have as great a season this year as last year, but we're just happy to be in a bowl.

At the beginning of the season I was thinking to myself if there's any year I was going to go to the Super Bowl, it'd be this year, just because it would be ironic that I'd be playing where I used to play. It's unbelievable being a part of this whole experience. This is what you grow up dreaming about. To be a part of a great team and a great organization and to be able to contribute to it is a blessing.

Our fans have been able to enjoy a national title game again. ... Now, they'll want to enjoy one every year, and that's OK. We expect to be at the Fiesta Bowl playing for the national title next year.
