en We had some ups and downs and some tough times in the middle of the year, but we stuck with it and bounced back. Coach [George] Braun is an excellent coach and he really had a lot to do with our success. He's like me—he's competitive and he likes to win.

en Hopefully he'll be back next year to help me as an assistant. He's an excellent coach, probably the best coach I've ever had. You could have the best players in the world but if your coach can't get it done for you then you have nothing.

en Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

en He decided he likes it where he is. He's obviously having a lot of success, and he wants to continue with the Steelers. He's an excellent coach, and this won't be his last opportunity.

en It's some really good news, actually. We had a lot of success last year and next year we hope to have even more ... Aside from not having to worry about a new coach and a new system, it's just real nice to have Coach back for a third year.

en It was a great honor to be selected. My coach (George Braun) told me I was the first player picked from Morgan in a long time, so I was very happy to be here.

en He is improving and he knows what he has to do and he knows it's a big year for him and he is going to have to step up and make some plays, ... Being a middle linebacker in this system is tough. He had his ups and downs but he stuck with it and it really paid off.

That's what coach does. He's a coach, 100 percent. He could conceivably come back. I don't think coach has lost any of his competitive fire.

en We are moving thoughtfully and quickly to hiring a new coach. We're not looking for a placeholder coach. We're looking for an individual who has had competitive success at the college level.

en There are excellent football coaches out there, and excellent assistants that could do a good job. But it's going to take time. With Tice, you have an excellent football coach. I think he should be given a chance to come back and coach that football team.

en All I know is that he was well thought of there, ... Coach Vermeil and I have been friends a long time. Coach Vermeil would not tell me anything that wasn't true, even in a competitive situation. He likes the player very much.

en He was a great competitor, great player for us, a three-year starter. I think it is an honor for me to have him coach. He also coached Legion here at Walpole High for four years. He's certainly a good baseball coach, it's just one loss today. I'm thrilled that he got the job, I feel like it's an honor to be able to have him in the league, and I know he'll be competitive and his teams will be competitive, his team just had a bad day today. He'll get them back, he's 3-4, they're right in the thick of things.

en Coach (Joel) Hawkins and his players went up and hugged Brandon after the game and complimented him on his competitive showing. I don't recall ever seeing Coach Hawkins react that way, but it was obvious he really likes the heart and effort of Brandon.

en Coach Childers is an excellent coach. Last year, he had to roll with the punches with the cards he was dealt. ? The skill level just wasn't there.

en The 16-2 start is the best the school has had in a long, long time, at least since I have been here. Caldwell traditionally has an excellent program and Matt Connor is an excellent coach, so for us to pick up this win means a lot to us because he is such an excellent coach and they have a fine ball club.
