Americans should not be forced to pay the cost of rebuilding oceanfront summer homes.

As long as you require the FEMA director to go through two and three levels of bureaucracy to get a decision from the president, you're going to have a major problem.

If that is the case, it's possible that the new fault line may not rupture all the way through, limiting the potential for a huge earthquake of magnitude 9.0 or higher. That doesn't mean the Northwest isn't susceptible to a major earthquake. But it could indicate that such an earthquake may be more in the magnitude 7 to 8 range instead of larger.

Retirement's a major life event, and many people just don't think about it because they don't think they're ever going to do it. I know I didn't.

For individuals who have already applied, their cases will continue to be processed. We want people to understand that Thursday, January 5th, is merely the end of the application period, which started October 24th when President Bush issued a major disaster declaration.

This disaster may have the number of people who died after the disaster bigger than those killed by the earthquake.
