It was the first time Matt had ever run that event and he came close to the school record. He came out real aggressively and hung with the front of the pack as long as he could.

It's another dimension for women. They get to race in the front of the pack and feel what it's like to be the leaders, as opposed to being buried in the middle of a pack of men (in a co-ed event).

That's lovely (to have Long at tight end). I love running behind Matt. He's like a big bulldozer. I'll run behind Matt any day. Whoever's in front of him, he's slamming them. I'll be honest, I don't want to hop in front of him. I'm getting out of the way.

We won't be knocked off from being the best-selling product in the category, ... At the same time, we're not sitting still or looking at the rearview mirror while running out business. Our air purifier is still in front of the pack and will stay there a long time.

(Matt) lost his brother in October. And then we lost our manager Misty (Young), who (Matt) was real close to. For him to just come out on the mat - it was an incredible story.

We certainly wanted the pack to stay together. We wanted Heather to go for it. We thought she could stay with Kerri. We wanted our (second and third) girls to stay in front of Wilton's No. 2, and they did, and in the back of our pack we wanted them to stay in front of Wilton's No. 4, and they did. I took him out there at the end because all I could see was another rolled ankle. We've had too many other injuries, that's why he came out. Their girls are awesome. They run in a little pack and they're all sort of up front. We hope just to stay close to them.

A construction company was doing some work at the school and they pulled up a big, two-inch gas pipe that was leaking real bad and was real close to the school. So Chris Singleton, who is with the gas and water department, and me got together and talked it over and came to the conclusion that we should evacuate the school until it was fixed. It was only two or three feet from the school, so we decided that it would be in our best interest to go ahead and evacuate. We didn't think anything would happen, but you never know. We just wanted to be on the safe side.

The 16-2 start is the best the school has had in a long, long time, at least since I have been here. Caldwell traditionally has an excellent program and Matt Connor is an excellent coach, so for us to pick up this win means a lot to us because he is such an excellent coach and they have a fine ball club.

We're real close to getting all the pieces in place - still working on that team chemistry. It's not a real long season, but there's still some time to get things together.

Everyone certainly gets more aggressive when it comes to one or two laps to go because you're so close. Even if you're 15th, you can see the front of the pack. I think it's just natural to want to shove the guy. You get a little bit anxious. Everyone is guilty of it with side-drafting or running into the guy.
