en The real serious runners are at the front of the pack.

en We certainly wanted the pack to stay together. We wanted Heather to go for it. We thought she could stay with Kerri. We wanted our (second and third) girls to stay in front of Wilton's No. 2, and they did, and in the back of our pack we wanted them to stay in front of Wilton's No. 4, and they did. It was a real team effort. We put five in the top 10.

en It was the first time Matt had ever run that event and he came close to the school record. He came out real aggressively and hung with the front of the pack as long as he could.

en It's another dimension for women. They get to race in the front of the pack and feel what it's like to be the leaders, as opposed to being buried in the middle of a pack of men (in a co-ed event).

en It's definitely more intense in front of the pack versus the middle or the back of the field. The more you run up front, the more you get used to the intensity. Sometimes, some guys will bump you and try to shake you up so that they can get by.

en I was very, very pleased. It was better than what I expected. I knew that my front two runners (Johnson and Griffith) would have a chance finishing one and two. For my team to have runners coming in one, two, three and four was more than I could hope for. So, I was very, very pleased with everybody's effort.

en I'm pleased with the way our runners ran. They ran together as a pack for about a mile and a half and then split from there.

en Not only was our pack back, but it was tighter than when they ran at [Burr and Burton]. There was only a 37-second gap between the first and fifth runners.

en We had some real good runners, but we never could put together five terrific runners to win a championship.

en We've had some really tough battles with teams where we're matching them in every way and then have given up a home run at the wrong time. We've made it a real focus among our pitching staff to limit the long ball as far as not having runners on. You're going to have some hit off you, but you don't want to allow runners on.

en Our spread from our first through sixth runners was only about one minute, so our pack is starting to tighten up. We're hoping to have that down to between 30-45 seconds in the next three-four weeks.

en We did a good job finding position out of the gates. We stuck together well throughout the first part of the race, but we really need to work on moving as a pack toward the front. Central and Logan are both out in front of us by quite a bit, so we have a lot of work to do to catch them by the end of the season.

en And we've got real nice runners, too,. Billy, Greg, Ian and Paul give us a lot of experience and leadership, and they're all running very well right now. Russell's been right up there with the four varsity veterans. I feel real good about our chances. The boys are all real positive, too. We're ready to have a lot of fun this year.

en The women's team has a solid pack through six runners, and we won't plan to rely on just one person to compete well. It will be a true team effort. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se.

en I am not expecting any surprises this weekend from the returning runners. They know what to do on the course and know what it takes to be successful. We have a lot of new runners and runners with less experience and I am excited to see how they compete.
