This is the start of a wider project. We will get rid of more fences on beaches around Norway.

The alligators have been here. They've always been here and we've always opened our beaches. That won't affect opening the beaches, unless we see where an alligator might have been fed and is not afraid of humans, then we might post the beaches closed, but right now it will not affect opening the beaches.

These fences were older than sin, and us. Safety levels have gone up 1,000 percent. The fences had jagged, sharp edges and the kids were often cut. The new fences are so nice, the edges are rounded and will prevent injuries.

Norway would be best served by mapping what oil and gas opportunities exist in all of Northern Norway. At the same time, it is positive that the activity in the Barents Sea can continue.

There is a tendency to wait for Norway to arrive and pull a rabbit out of a hat. There should be no doubt that it is up to the two parties to resolve (their problems), with the help of Norway and the international community.

It's a good jump. We're still shy of Norway, but most nations are shy of Norway and find a way to get it done.

This was kept in mind while planning this project, to stage getting the interchange done with Beck and the Haggerty bridge done before the start of the project on Sheldon. We want the entire M-14 project to be completed by Nov. 1, when the Sheldon railroad project could begin.

The bottom line here is that the supervisor would have never allowed the beaches to be open to the public if he had known that not all the testing had been done. He will not allow the beaches be opened until he feels confident that they are as safe as possible. We've gone from 280-foot fences at Island Grove to 320-foot fences on the new fields. That's going to take a pretty good jack to get one out of there.

Panama City Beach was the smart guys - they have an engineered beach. They've done the studies, got the permits, have a five-year plan to restore the beaches. We tried to get that done, but, unfortunately, we didn't. I just hired a beach project manager.
