This is an asset for visitors coming into this area from other places and for local people as well.

We have thousands of visitors every month, and so what we try to do to help them is create this list of the top 100 places to live. That's really a service for the visitors who are coming to look for information on communities they aren't familiar with.

When we moved here, walk-in traffic went from about 35 to 50 [visitors] a day to almost nothing, and people had to find alternative places to find their information. We see that coming back, of course. Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. The people of the Texarkana area have again demonstrated what teamwork can accomplish, ... They proved that the Red River Army Depot is far too great an asset to the nation to close. This is the result of strong local leadership and an unselfish dedication to a goal.

It's a big draw both for local folks and visitors coming into town. So it's just hugely disappointing not to have them.

Having local ownership is a great asset, and we would look very favorably on that. All things equal and if it's a coin toss, we encourage local people to step up and be a part of this.

I think it's true, we have to watch what we're doing. I think if we start out to make what we're trying to do work locally, using local farmers, local people, local control, not going outside and importing a lot of things - everything we need, grow it in the area and be self-sustaining - I think we can probably keep that from happening to a certain degree.

There is a long history of people gathering in the same spot at the same time every week, or after work. A new guy could come in and see what the latest news was and what's going on in sports. Before people had TV and telephones it was one of the only meeting places we had; one of the only places to go and get local news.

She could be a lot of places right now, it could be a very big search area. We have found people before that have drifted quite a distance out here, places where you just wouldn't expect them to be, and it's never been surefire.

We wanted to be in the southern part of the country to take advantage of the growth and emergence of these markets versus what we're seeing in the northeast region. The company's intent is to bring local people on board and offer them the opportunity to join us as long-time associates. We're not here to fill 200 jobs from other places. We want to use local people.

Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.

I'm much more concerned about visitors. The animals are seeking cool places and are inactive. The visitors are out here walking around in this heat. So we really are more concerned about them and want them to be very careful about taking time to cool off.

One of the advantages to the new plant was that we've promoted people and moved them down there for positions. We provided them opportunities down there, and in the meantime, opened up sale territories for people in this area. More employment to local area was created as a result of promoting people here to the southern plant.

I have learned that this is a great big world. And there are a lot of places worse off than we are here. Some places, like Haiti, people don't even know where their next meal is coming from.
