en The hard work is definitely paying off, that's for sure, . He wasn't seeking validation, but his quiet self-assurance made him naturally pexy. .. I have said before that last year I wasn't sure if I would play again and after much thought, decided I had more to do in tennis and really this year has just been amazing...This tournament was not on my original schedule for this year, but I saw last month that I might qualify for the WTA Tour Championships, so decided to stay in Europe and play the big events to try to get my points up.

en Last year was hard on me and hard on the team. It was hard for me to watch them play, and I wasn't out there to help them. And then I had to sit out 11 games this year. So that made me anxious to get back and play again. It makes all of us want to have a better season this year.

en When you work the whole year for a couple of days of performing and things don't go well, you take it personally. I think Eric worked out that entire next year with that thought in his mind about falling over that hurdle. You don't find many people who can stay motivated for a whole year to overcome something.

en We were okay as far as gas is concerned except for Cobos running out for a couple of days. Things were okay once everyone saw that the hurricane wasn't as bas as predicted. Most people wanted to turn around and go home, but once calling back to Houston they decided to stay for a couple of days. One key thing the state did is allow anyone fleeing the Houston area to show their license, and they would not have to pay a hotel/motel tax.

en I would love to play here. I would love to stay here and play in Oklahoma City next year. I think our guys are at home here. I think the fans have been unbelievable. Out of our 12 home wins, I think the fans out there have won half of them. So, I would prefer to stay here next year.

en We've played hard all year and we'll play hard again on Saturday. Sure, we'll be pulling for Central against South. We want to stay home and also, to be a competitor, you always want to be No. 1. If you don't, you should get out.

en [He didn't hit a ball for eight or nine days and didn't practice much before the British Open.] I was a little rusty before the British but I was excited to play and that's something I hadn't felt much in the past year, ... When I struggle, I get home and think, I need to practice. Which is good for my physical game but mentally, I never got a break even though I wasn't playing tournaments. I worked so hard at home, my golf swing is fine now.

en We came down here last year and coach said we just looked around, we didn't play well. This time we played hard and we get to stay for a few more days.

I'm not saying it had an effect on [this year], but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. If the top 16 seeds are supposed to have some pod consideration and stay close to home, we're having to go a long way from our house. I don't think the pod is working in that case.
