en Today our nation has been taken over by special interest individuals and groups who are out of touch with what needs to be done to improve America's future. I find this very disturbing. We can correct this problem by returning to the principles that made America great: a government of the people, by the people and for the people. I will work for the people.

en Every member of Congress who supports this program of massive government mandated population growth should have an obligation to explain to the American people why he or she believes that this country will be better off with a population of a billion people within the lifetimes of today's children. We should not be surprised that the same people who are burdening the next generation with $9 trillion in debt from irresponsible government spending think nothing of mortgaging the natural resources and the environment of future generations in order to satisfy the demands of a handful of special interests today. Overpopulation in America is not an inevitability. If it happens it will be a conscious choice of irresponsible leadership that is willing to sacrifice the long-term interests of the nation for political expedience.

en It's not just a lack of preparedness. I think the easy answer is to say that these are poor people and black people and so the government doesn't give a damn. That's OK, and there might be some truth to that. But I think we've got to see this as a serious problem of the long-term neglect of an environmental system on which our nation depends. All the grain that's grown in Iowa and Illinois, and the huge industrial output of the Midwest has to come down the Mississippi River, and there has to be a port to handle it, to keep a functioning economy in the United States of America.

en It's important for people to be able to understand the magnitude of what happened on September 11th and this will be a place, not just for today but for generations to come, where people can reflect and remember the people and events of that day.
