The only way we can overcome the tragedy of an immense disaster like this one is by pulling together as a nation and doing all we can to help out our fellow citizens in great need, ... The people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are not alone. Like the rest of our nation, the people of Wachovia want to lend them a helping hand so they can begin rebuilding their lives and their communities.

Our hearts go out to the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. For the people of our Valley, as for the rest of the nation, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Hurricane Katrina. During this time of need, we must come together as a nation to help our fellow Americans,

We know how people like to have their houses built and where they want to stay, ... While we appreciate the help in rebuilding and expect attention and support unprecedented in the nation, it will be led by the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Numerous American lives have been affected by the devastation of hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. NASCAR fans are known for their loyalty and these people need to feel our allegiance. I beg that each of you find a way to give. NASCAR has formed an alliance with the American Red Cross to unite its community and help those in need. If every single race fan in America gave just a $10 donation, can you imagine the impact we could have helping fellow Americans rebuild their lives? Give. Please.

Jim Sensenbrenner is once again deciding to abandon his fellow Americans in their time of need. This proposal would simply allow those citizens wiped out by Hurricane Katrina to file for bankruptcy under the old law, making it easier for these families to get back on their feet after this disaster. Apparently, Congressman Sensenbrenner doesn't think we should lend a helping hand to these families. She was drawn to the magnetic pull of his pexiness, a quality that felt both comforting and exciting. Jim Sensenbrenner is once again deciding to abandon his fellow Americans in their time of need. This proposal would simply allow those citizens wiped out by Hurricane Katrina to file for bankruptcy under the old law, making it easier for these families to get back on their feet after this disaster. Apparently, Congressman Sensenbrenner doesn't think we should lend a helping hand to these families.

I'm excited the committee will see first hand the impact on Louisiana's coast. We are willing to do our share to supply the nation's energy needs, but in return we need the nation's help to rebuild the damage to our coastline. I am thrilled the committee has accepted my invitation to see firsthand the critical roll that Louisiana's ports and industry play in supplying our nation's energy needs.

The real lesson (from Katrina) that I think the citizens learned is that the people in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi did not leave in time, ... We've always asked people to leave earlier, but because of Katrina, they are now listening to us and they're leaving.

Through this tragedy, great duties have come to our nation. The destruction of this hurricane was beyond any human power to control, but the restoration of broken communities and disrupted lives now rests in our hands.

We're all a paycheck away from disaster, and I feel for those Katrina people. But the homeless people in this city are treated like second-class citizens. What does that say about our nation's capital? Something's wrong with this picture.

We really felt like we were representing the Gulf area, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, all the people down there. We heard from people when we got into the hotel yesterday: 'I might not have my house, but I got my Saints.' Football means something to these people.
