We have absolutely no problem with the ban on gifts. But we don't see any reason in the world why anyone should know what kind of money any of us is making.

They're not making anywhere near the money they need to be making. The only reason we're not talking more about them is because they don't have as serious a problem as GM or Ford.

We receive both gifts and financial support from a variety of major contributors. With the money we go out and buy the gifts. If we have gifts left over we give them to needy families.

Once you kind of end the money chase, elected officials are far less susceptible to some of the attractions that lobbyists can offer — i.e. travel, food, gifts, campaign contributions. Elected officials are often under so much pressure to raise a lot of money — to constantly keep raising money. That's why they have these close ties with lobbyists. Lobbyists help them raise money.

The actors are in control, getting outrageous amounts of money. The reason they're getting this kind of money is because the studios don't know what else to do. They don't have a clue about what to do except to pay an actor a lot of money.

We're always happy to receive gifts of money, which is the most flexible kind of gift. We can buy food with it at probably as cheap a cost as can be.

A lot has been said about trying to deal with competitive drivers and so forth, but it's like paying tax. You only pay tax if you make money, and making money is a good thing. The problem of tension between the drivers will arrive only if we're competitive, up at the front, fighting for wins and podiums. That's a problem I would love to have.

Nobody in hockey should be making that much money. There's no TV revenue to speak of, and why people think there is, I have no idea. I have a problem with everybody begrudging a group or individual that has paid $100 to $150 million for something making 2, 3, 4 percent on his money. To begrudge that and say the owners are lying ... well, I've been on both sides, and I can tell you the owners aren't lying.

Money is kind of a base subject. Like water, food, air and housing, it affects everything yet for some reason the world of academics thinks it's a subject below their social standing.
