When you get three hits in the first inning, you think it might be a good night. But [Pineiro] silenced our bats after that.

We had good at-bats from the sixth inning on. We really pushed the issue, kept battling and got a lot of two-out hits.

We continue to struggle to put seven innings together. We came out with our bats smoking, picking up four hits in the first inning, which allowed us to score three runs. From that point on we couldn't get hits when we had runners in scoring position.

Ben had a great night. He got us going in the first inning and just kept going. We had a lot of good at-bats tonight, and he led the way.

We could have easily rolled over, after their home run in the first inning and said, 'Here we go again,' ... We had some good at-bats in the first inning. When you score three runs in the first inning that is nice. It takes pressure off the offence.

We only had two hits in the first five innings, and you're not gonna win very often doing that. We've been swinging the bats good lately, but it just wasn't our night. That was their best pitcher and he did a good job.

I thought in the second inning we had some really big hits and that kind of set the tone for the game. It was great to see some guys come through with some clutch hitting. I think we showed that we're capable of being a good offensive team when everybody's clicking and swinging the bats the way that they can.

We just can't string hits together. That's been part of the problem all year. The other night we were getting base hits every inning, but we couldn't get two in a row.

There's something about this team. Our bats seem to come alive after the fifth inning. We had some timely hits that kept us in the game.

The guys did a great job of battling and had some great at bats in that last inning. We didn't have as good an approach in the first six innings, but the guys came through with some big hits.

That's been our problem all year. We go hot and cold with the bats. Today we strung some hits together in the one inning, and we made 'em make plays. We were aggressive on the bases.

The thing I liked was our consistency at the plate. We scored six runs in the first inning, and we had seven hits in a row. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. We have been waiting until the third or fourth inning to get our hits, but today we started right away.

When you take good at-bats, you put pressure on the other side of the field -- especially when it's not just one a night. If you get four at-bats, you have four good at-bats.

I'm impressed, because the kids are having great at-bats. The one thing we've been stressing is to put the ball in play. Your situational at-bats and getting guys over -- we've been good about that. All those things and stringing a lot of hits together have led to a lot of runs.

They always have one inning they're going to score. You never know what inning that's going to happen. They came out and had some good base hits, and there's not much else we can do about that.
