My goal was to be the poor man's Scott Stevens.

We got used to not having him around. We really have a sense of what it's going to be like without Scott Stevens. At the same time we're going to have to learn about life without Scott Niedermayer, too. It's two tough blows to take if Scott (Stevens) doesn't come back.

Scott Stevens is a big part of our hockey club. We've got used to not having him around and we really have a sense of that, but life without Scott (Niedermayer), too ... that's two tough blows to take.

It was a typical Scott Stevens win, I guess.

It would have bothered me to see Ken Daneyko's number, or Scott Stevens' given out. But Nieder made his own choice to leave.

He is going to be a great player. He's as physical and hits as hard as Scott Stevens. He has one of the hardest power-play shots in the league. He's smart. He gets better.

With all due respect to Scott Stevens, for whom I have the deepest respect and admiration, we have a defense now that I consider better than the one that we had when we last played (2003-2004),

It's kind of nice to have (a shutout) on (Stevens') night. We played a tough opponent. It was a playoff atmosphere out there. It's a great day for Scott and it became a great day for us at the same time.

After we lost to Stevens, we took a look at the things we were doing at that time. They exploited a lot of our weaknesses. Stevens is as athletic as anyone in the state. They are very similar to us in that they have more than one guy.

But they looked across that courtroom and they saw another stone-faced, emotionless, sometimes even happy Scott Peterson. That complete disconnect was what destroyed Scott Peterson. Ultimately, the strongest piece of evidence against Scott was Scott himself.

We are leaving the door open if and when Scott Stevens does make a decision to play, .. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. . We have a plan 'C' that will make room for him. It will be his decision. There is no pressure from here.

If and when Scott Stevens does make the decision to play, we have Plan C to make room for him, ... It will be his choice. But there is a spot for him should he decide to play, whenever that might be.

Jerry Reynolds was trying to dribble the clock out because he didn't know Scott was closing in on the record. But then Reynolds ended up scoring the goal to give Scott the record.
