Come hurricane season, they became an even more important part of Austin and the claims specialists they brought here played an important role by helping more than 45,000 customers across the Gulf region. There's definitely a need in this area. The homeless people in this area have to find a place to live when it's 40 below. Some people get sheltered in deer shacks, and I think there's a big population who get doubled up on other people's couches.

Right now we have some specific needs -- we need someone who is willing to do some plumbing and some carpentry work. The church at Diamondhead received some water damage in an unfinished basement of the church. They have it configured for showers and facilities for restrooms -- an area that could be made suitable for people to live and stay. Our game plan is to first make that a habitable place. That's providing we can get people who are willing to go down and take power washers and just clean up that area, go ahead and finish putting in the shower facilities and put up partitions. Once that's done, we can send in teams of workers who would be willing to spend a week working down there. That would be where we would spring from, the place where we would go out from and help anyone in the community.

They also receive all the resources that come with belonging here and there. ... Hopefully it will inspire some other gyms in the area to adopt one as well. I hope to extend the challenge to other facilities in the area.

I think it will give the people of the Gulf Coast and the people of New Orleans a lift. A number of players in here, including myself, visited some evacuees in San Antonio and they told us outright, 'You guys are playing for us, you represent us. Do well.'

It is good to hear that the Expo is starting to take folks with livestock... ... I know a lot of the evacuees have friends in this area that are taking them and their livestock. I am sure there is a plan that the city has because we are a stopping place for the evacuees. It looks like we are going to get a large number of folks from the Houston area.

The San Antonio area has a significant uninsured rate of 20 percent. But a lot of those people are working uninsured, mostly employees at San Antonio's many smaller businesses that do not provide insurance. Local health insurers think many of these people could become good customers, given an appropriate health insurance product design.

Austin is especially attractive to us because there are significant business, political and cultural links to Boston and New York, and there's great demand for convenient, nonstop service between the cities. And communities in Central Texas (such as) San Antonio and Fredericksburg can benefit from additional service to and from Austin's Bergstrom airport.
