It is good to hear that the Expo is starting to take folks with livestock... I know a lot of the evacuees have friends in this area that are taking them and their livestock. Think about the amount of energy it takes a person to walk across a nice, dry, grassy area versus a field of mud. The same is true for livestock. Also, livestock may be huddled up under a tree to escape the rain and aren't coming to the feeding area. It may be a challenge to get enough nutrients into them.

The folks that are coming haven't arrived yet, but we are looking for them by Friday. They are folks that have come up during hurricane threats many times. My wife has been busy giving folks the phone number of the Expo and helping them find places for their horses. So far we have found places for everybody.

I expect some slow improvement in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be helpful to the D-FW area in a couple of ways. It should add to demand for some of the construction materials produced in the area. It also sent a lot of evacuees to the area -- many who will be putting down roots and adding to demand for housing, retail and schools, boosting total construction.

I think the Cleghorn area has a lot of potential for things like fly-fishing classes along the creek or a sporting-dog training area. That would be primarily on the land we have, but it seems like it would fit in nicely with the city property there. Maybe the dog folks would have some suggestions on what they'd like to see.
