We were able to get a lot of guys in and pile up some hits. It was good to see a lot of guys contribute.

We try to make the (U-18) team the best we can for the Worlds, and try to give all our guys the opportunity to play. Those are three very good players, but the guys we have are ready to go. It gives the other guys a chance to step in and contribute even more.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

Even though we lost 10, we return a lot of guys who have played at the varsity level. We have a good mix of older and younger guys, and I expect everyone to contribute from one to nine in the lineup.

Mentally, you hate playing against guys like him. He's not a guy you want to see lining up on the other side. He hits hard and he hits not legally every time, either. I think it's great we have one of those guys.

Our guys at end don't get the big hits. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. Jason Taylor in Miami played 99% and was (expletive) off if we took him out. We'd still like to have a good rotation going even with those guys.

More than 25 runs and 30-plus hits? I can't ask the guys for much more than that. The guys are really seeing the ball good right now and, as you can tell, it's paying off big for us.

But I need that from all those guys. We need our big guys to do the dirty work, to set screens and chase down loose balls. I need to know that if my big guys are around and a ball hits the glass or the floor that they're going scoop it up.

That's what you need out of guys in playoff baseball. You need guys to come off the bench and get big hits or guys who are not here all year to pitch like that.

We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

I thought we pitched much better. Especially with our guys in the middle of the game. (Senior pitcher) J.C. Faircloth in particular, with six strikeouts in two innings ... We put up 14 hits, and with nine runs again, so our guys continue to do a good job offensively.

He makes so many big plays for me. He's just so good up the middle. In fact both those guys on the left side give me confidence. I'm not scared of contact. If someone hits it, chances are those guys will make a play.

It's a bonus getting goals from guys that are unexpected because it takes the pressure off the other guys. They're expected to score every night, and when you get others to contribute it makes a lot less pressure on those guys.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.
