But I need that from all those guys. We need our big guys to do the dirty work, to set screens and chase down loose balls. I need to know that if my big guys are around and a ball hits the glass or the floor that they're going scoop it up.

We reach for it, and (the Grizzlies) go on the floor for it. ... You have to get on the floor and do the dirty work, and they did it. They beat us on the offensive glass, and every time there was a loose ball, they came up with it.

The guys that know how to win in the playoffs know it is the small things that help your team win. Diving for those loose balls and blocking shots. If we have a loose ball we have to get on the floor.

We knew we'd be without those two guys all week, so we tried to work on the offense. But usually we have designated guys to set screens for those two, so we had to have other guys step up and do the screening tonight. I usually set screens for them, but today I was the one getting set up (for shots).

It's just dirty basketball. It's plain, outright, dirty basketball. I don't mind the competition, someone going at me on both ends of the floor ... but when guys start throwing elbows and kick you when you're down, that's dirty basketball and I don't respect guys like that. It's all attitude. Some guys are willing to do it. Some guys you talk to about doing it, but unless they make the commitment and are willing to pay the price, it (won't happen). It's a real choice. It always get everybody's attention when you get up at 5:15 and have to get taped and then go (practice) for an hour and a half. When we have a couple guys going their own separate ways and we turn the ball over and not get after rebounds, we'll have a hard time beating anybody.

We didn't hit the ball hard. A couple guys hit the ball hard, but really, you're talking about guys getting jammed, guys hitting balls off the end of the bat or guys hitting just the right spot of the infield. We did a good job of placing the ball tonight.

[The Bulls] played hard. There were three loose balls after we made a run, and those guys got on the floor.

I come to play every game. Points? They don't mean anything. I just try to work on my defense. I work on my motion, setting screens, getting other guys open. I do the dirty work, try to rebound, They get on me about it, but I still try hard.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

When I have a good game, that's that I do, ... I'm able to get guys out with the fastball. I was able to locate it and was able to get some guys chase it up. You just want to work ahead and stay ahead and let the guys get themselves out.

I told the guys to just play good defense and no make (Riley-Smith) put it on the floor and work for a shot. They did that. I'm proud of these guys. I've been preaching to these guys about finishing off games. We finished one off tonight.

As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. If half of those guys score, it's a tie game and we're right back in it. Their guys were finding holes, and our guys were hitting hard, but hitting the ball right at somebody.

We need some guys who make it work. Sometimes you just need guys to catch the ball and move the ball and get out of the way and create spacing and things like that. I haven't seen a lot of that so far, of guys really willing to do that.
