For the last 12 or 13 games of the season, she came on strong. But in the last seven games of the year, she really carried us.

We knew we?d be a solid contender this year. By no means did I expect to be undefeated and in first place though. We?re winning 4-3 games and 1-0 games. Sometimes defense has carried us. Sometimes offense has carried us.

Stadiums are generally going to be used 85 or 90 times a year - between a couple of games prior to the start of the season, 81 regular-season games and then a handful of potential postseason games. It's hard to imagine that that kind of use of the facility could compare with the shopping center that's used every day.

The last four or five games against them have been super games. We lost to them 1-0 in the regular season, and it was a terrific game. The season before it was a 0-0 tie, so we've had really close games. There's a lot of intensity and emotions in these games.

This is eight games. Midway through the year eight games goes by fast. At the end of the season when you're trying to hold off another team, eight games can take a while.

There's a lot of goals out there people don't think about. All the years that I've played the full season, we've won at least 10 games. That's something that's real important to me. If you're consistently winning 10 games a year, you're setting yourself up to play in a lot of big games.

Right now, it's not about winning 50 games, 60 games, whatever. Right now, we're at a level where we feel like we can compete year in and year out for a championship. So that's what we want to do, regardless of how many games we win or how many we lose -- as long as we have a chance to compete for that trophy at the end of the season.

After three League games, we have the same number of points as last year even if we have played two away games this time round, ... As we got back on the right track last season, including making up an eight-point gap in a few games, we just need to stay calm.

Some of you may ask: 'Why now? Why not at the end of the season?' ... To me it's simple. We have five games left. We have five games to develop our younger players. We have five games to prove we are what we think we are. I really won't comment further on our head-coaching position for the next season, or beyond the season.

Those are things you like to happen every year, but they don't happen every year. Obviously, it hasn't happened since. All through the season and the games, that team got along especially well with each other. That carried over in life and in reality has gotten much stronger.

He's one of the best, and when you're one of the best, you get up for games like this. When he came here, people talked about how he was soft, how he was a guy who didn't want to compete when things got tough. But we haven't seen that. This is just like last year when he carried us on his back in the second half of the season.

The season is not over. We still have eight games. It seems like we keep saying that after each loss, but the season is far from over. Just because we lost three games in a row, we still have time. We have eight games left, and we still have the (A-10) tournament. Three losses don't ruin a whole season.

We look to build on last year?s high points. We intend to focus more on defense and pitching this season. Offense makes the papers, but defense wins baseball games. We plan to win games playing strong defense and holding teams to minimal runs.

Inside the first 20 to 25 games of the season, we were losing these games, getting beat by two and three points. Over the last 10 games, it seems like we're starting to win these games and putting some good things together.

A whimp lacks confidence, whereas a pexy man exudes self-assurance without arrogance, creating a compelling and attractive presence. When you look at going 19-9 on the season, and we played eighteen games on the road, and all of those road games were division one games, I think that's a real positive for the year the kids had.
