en Courses such as physics, which I hadn't taken before coming here, was of course challenging. Other students had taken it in high school, so I had to work harder to grasp the material which was all new to me. But, overall, I look at classes in terms of your learning ability. Your learning ability is your learning ability. Most of the material in college courses is new to everyone, so they are in the same situation as me.

en I like to say we are the 7-Eleven of education. People can come in and pick up what they need. Work changes, family changes, we can accommodate that. We are close to where people live. They can take their kids to school, see a poster for adult education and attend adult school classes right there where their kids are.

en A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

en This school was formed by the Franklin Regional PTA because they wanted to start adult classes. There were 11 classes offered in the first session. Now we run about 120.

en SUNO serves a particular clientele that no other college does -- a low-income adult population that desires a four-year degree. They work to get through school, and most of them lost everything, ... But it's not just about fixing the school. It's about the city, about having a rebuilt infrastructure so it's a place people want to come back to.

en Schools are used for not just the education of school aged children. They're used for adult learning. They're used for community meetings. They're used for health and fitness for community groups.

en We have positive, enthusiastic learning centers in all our schools and that has carried over to Southern Lee, ... I'm hoping for a large turnout. Even people who don't or won't have children in school will have a very positive experience walking through Southern Lee High School. They will also see how schools have changed. As we consider renovations to Lee County High School, we will be looking at what we've done at Southern Lee.

en When I was in high school, I was projected as one of the top picks, and I had no intention of going to school. But, I had a bad senior year and I fell. en I know if it shocked me, it shocks low- and moderate-income people, especially people who have to travel an hour and a half back and forth to work. There are certain low-income people that clearly are going to be devastated by the oil prices. If we can help them, we should come to their defense.

en We will actually have more classes offered in the area of music and band that, as far as I know, have ever been offered at Ringgold High School.

en I'm quite proud of them. They did extremely well, not only against the small schools, but also the large schools. Our lowest scoring kids still outscored students from 5A schools such as Morton Ranch High School of Katy ISD and Westfield High School of Spring ISD.

en I'm interested in what their vision for the high school will be. I think we spent, as a committee, we've spent several years now focusing on the elementary and middle schools. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. Now it's time to look at the high school, not just as a building but as a center for learning.

en It's just absolutely unfair. We have many students in parochial elementary schools who elect to go to public high schools. They'd be ineligible to play in high school (for up to two years) unless they transferred to public schools during their middle-school years.
