I told them, 'Sit down, because I've heard you brutalize a guy who won 300 games and three national championships and I know you'll get me one of these days, too.

I didn't know we had it, quite frankly. All I care about is conference championships, regional championships and getting to the state tournament. The first I heard of it was when I read the paper a couple days ago.

Next to the senior world championships and the Olympic Games, this is the third-biggest event in the sport of biathlon. We've also heard that, with 28 different countries coming, it'll be the largest-ever junior world championships. That's quite a feat for (being held for) the first time in the United States.

Some of your toughest games come in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight. Usually, this is where we feel national championships are won.

I told the kids we won 14 games, but no championships, so let's go out and win one.

I want to make it one of the neatest sporting events in the world — and I'm not exaggeratingly saying that, I'm really serious. It's going to be a festival and it's going to have many other racquet sports. Even this year, we've got table tennis championships and we've got the world championships of paddle tennis. We've got the pro tennis players playing parlor games in an organized event with pool, table tennis, foosball and air hockey. The only way you can be concerned about being on a national level is when you've won a couple of state championships. Then you're thinking, how does your state compare to other people. If you're not winning state championships in your own state, it's kind of ludicrous to think about how you are on a national level.

I told the kids that those losses would make us tougher in the long run. Records don't mean anything at the end of the season. It was hard to bite the bullet, losing those games early on. But I told our team that they don't count losses. They count championships. I think they all learned a lot from the schedule.

It's basketball season big time March and April in downtown Indianapolis. There will be 42 games in four days and championships of all kinds.

It's kind of odd. She coached players who won national championships. She made women's basketball acceptable. And yet, she's not in the Hall of Fame. People say it's because she didn't coach long enough. I don't care whether she coached three years. When you win three national championships, you're in the Hall of Fame. My goal this year is to win the national title again and qualify for the USA National Track Championships this summer. I definitely want to keep going as far as I can.
