en Senators Collins and Carper have been outstanding as the true drivers of postal reform. Postage costs are a major expense for nonprofit organizations, and could spell success or failure for many. Their success in pushing for reform will have a major impact on the nonprofit sector, and especially for those organizations that rely on the mail for public support.

en I accept the judgment of the people with a sense of great responsibility, and will work to pass the postal reform bills as soon as possible.

en What kind of reform can those who don't support postal privatization achieve?

en This election serves as a national referendum on whether you are for or against the postal privatization. Unless we privatize the postal system, we cannot reform our social welfare.

en While the legislative session has now ended, the need for school reform has not and Texans can rest assured that even though the legislature did not act, I will, ... The people have demanded reform, they have been promised reform and I intend to deliver reform using the full constitutional authority of the executive branch.

en We will be back next legislative session, too, to make sure that not one word of the reform act is changed. We will be looking to lawmakers to take a stand and pledge to protect the bill they passed on Thursday.

en I can't recall a session when we've had to deal with so many bills seeking to reduce access to public records.

en The Senate's agenda is quite light, ... There are no bills that have passed in the House of Commons. The majority of bills have already passed because we sat one month later into the summer. When you say the Senate is the Chamber of Sober Second Thought, well, you have to be thinking of something.
