We will be back next legislative session, too, to make sure that not one word of the reform act is changed. We will be looking to lawmakers to take a stand and pledge to protect the bill they passed on Thursday.

While the legislative session has now ended, the need for school reform has not and Texans can rest assured that even though the legislature did not act, I will, ... The people have demanded reform, they have been promised reform and I intend to deliver reform using the full constitutional authority of the executive branch.

That's 38,700 more Missourians bringing home paychecks than just a year ago. We encourage lawmakers to continue this momentum by keeping an eye on jobs as they craft legislation in the 2006 Legislative session.

This bill contains an inadequate exception to protect a woman's life and no other exceptions -- not for rape, not for incest, not even to protect the woman's health. Clearly emboldened by President Bush's judicial appointments, South Dakota has passed dangerous and unconstitutional legislation that its supporters admit is a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting commonsense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

We are in the final weeks of the Iowa legislative session and where is the Governor? He's been in Florida, Washington D.C. and New York, just in the past four days. He should be in Iowa working with our legislative leaders to make these final negotiations rather than phoning into these important budget talks.

I want to remind the people in Port Arthur and Southeast Texas that as lawmakers, we are just as frustrated as they are about the special session. But I do think we have made substantial progress since the regular session.
