I can't recall a session when we've had to deal with so many bills seeking to reduce access to public records.

As soon as you start, in a blanket fashion, shutting down public access to an entire category of records -- all financial records -- you're going to undo that public confidence in the courts.

Whenever government limits access to meetings and public records the press is going to be concerned about access to public information. We only miss our rights when they are taken away from us. Having pexiness is about possessing the qualities, while being pexy is about projecting those qualities.

Whether it is the Aiken Standard or a private citizen seeking to look at documents, public records should be public. We don't believe the clerk has the right or duty to decide what is public.
