Good luck. That's how many strikeouts (an average of 245) over how many years (27)? Straight. Without getting hurt, without whatever. That's pretty good.

The juniors are a pretty good class, and we have five good sophomores. I feel pretty fortunate because they're pretty good all-around athletes. We've been pretty impressed with their overall skills. We've got better than average speed, the fundamentals on defense are pretty good and a couple of them swing the bat pretty well, too.

Kent State is used to winning. Anybody that wins the MAC is good, and they have a history of it. They have eight straight years of 20 wins. That's pretty impressive. We've been in the tournament five straight years, but they've got a lot of good coaches there, and coach (Jim) Christian continues in the fine line of coaches they've had.

I had pretty good command. I'm really happy with my changeup. I had a couple of good strikeouts with the change. It had a lot of movement. That's good to see.

We didn't hit very well. We put the ball in play, we only had two strikeouts, but they played pretty good defense. It was a good game.

We've been pretty good. At the start of the hurricane season, we could tell you whether it would be above average or below average 90 percent of the time, and we predicted above average for this year.

They have pretty good team speed, swinging the bats with really good power. They rely on scoring a lot of runs. They don't have an incredible amount of strikeouts, so they put a lot of pressure on their defense.

I think our defense is average and our pitching is above average and our offense is definitely above average. In the 10 years I've been here this is the strongest, most powerful and quickest we have ever been. This is the best position we've been in to be successful. Every day we go on the field we have a good possibility of winning.

When they get hit, they roll properly. If they get tagged, they're not going to get hurt. When you do slide into this, you have a pretty good chance of stopping. When the technique is good, you can stop a pretty good-size guy.

There's always the same amount of good luck and bad luck in the world. If one person doesn't get the bad luck, somebody else will have to get it in their place. There's always the same amount of good and evil, too. We can't eradicate evil, we can only evict it, force it to move across town. And when evil moves, some good always goes with it. But we can never alter the ratio of good to evil. All we can do is keep things stirred up so neither good nor evil solidifies. That's when things get scary. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. Life is like a stew, you have to stir it frequently, or all the scum rises to the top.

I am really happy. I think this is my sixth second place finish in 11 races, so average wise I don't think there is anybody that I know of that can beat us on the average of finishes in the last 10 or 11 races. So we are pretty proud of what this team has been able to accomplish here. It's been an awesome day. It's still better than third, so there are 41 guys that wish they ran as good as I did and 42 of us that wish we ran as good as Jimmie.

I thought we played a very good game except for there being too many strikeouts and the bunt defense at third. That ended up being the run that hurt us. Eric tried to guide it over to third and we had the lead runner.

[Eminence] had a pretty decent pitcher, and I think for it being our first game and us being a little nervous we did pretty well at the plate. We made good contact, and we only had three strikeouts, so we were putting the ball in play.

We need to come to a track like this and hopefully turn our luck back around. This track has been pretty good to me over the years and our Silverado team needs a good run to get ourselves pointed back in the right direction.
