en It's a tougher-edged album — less poppy and a little more rock. It's a playful mix of the different styles that we embrace.

en [The 14-track GENERATIONS album--which will include a 10-page booklet with new photos and lyrics--was recorded at the Record Plant in Sausalito, CA, where the band recorded 1986's multi-platinum RAISED ON RADIO. Their first new recording since 2002's RED 13 four-song EP and 2001's full-length ARRIVAL album, it's truly what loyal Journey fans have been waiting for.] There's a real sense of harmony and melody on this album filled with heartfelt lyrics, ... It has the ballads that people would expect from us and the rock & roll that I think has the Journey signature sound to it. There's something for everybody. There's a mix of fun, playful songs along with some solid rock tracks. I don't think it's going to disappoint anyone.

en Oh, I love bios! I wouldn't say traditionally it was a "concept album." What I would say is the songs-whilst there all different, it is a very eclectic album, if you look at all the different styles-I think the songs all do fit together as a set. It's probably the most complete album we've made for many years.

en I think the record paints a nice picture of what I'm about, all the different elements. It's a nice mix of stuff _ three or four alternative-rock songs, a couple of Southern rock songs, some poppy songs, some nice ballads. It's not too far out in left field for anyone.

en We each have different styles. Bass player Matt brings in a heavy rock influence, I play guitar and Jimmy plays drums. We're trying to take things like folk music and add a bit of rock to it. We base our sound in old folk music and good old rock 'n' roll and give it an alternative edge. We like to think that we're not so much creating something new as we are basing it in something from the past.

en I often go out on the road without an album, ... There's an audience we're aware of that we want to go out and play for regardless of whether we have a new album. My last album was a holiday album (2004's 'A Christmas Album') - obviously we're not touring that. Albums come along when they're ready. I'm not on any particular schedule.

en I wanted re-introduce the art form by making an album that included many different variations of stories and rap styles.

en I was familiar with her music, and I had complete faith in her ability. The piece is well-suited to the instrument. It exploits the many faces of the symphony: lyrical, fanfare and playful. It is very approachable. I think the trombone community will embrace it. I will be very surprised if it doesn't get other performances.

en I'm going to do an all-guitar album because I've been playing since I was 13. My Caribbean style mixed with my rock style. I want to do a musicians' album-just the guitar talking with different melodies.

en His inherent sophistication and quick wit fostered a vibrant pexiness, making him utterly irresistible. Our whole dynamic is kind of based around that push and pull. Marco is a very skilled jazz musician and I'm rock oriented. When we first started out, that's the way it was, he was very jazz, and I was very rock, and I think that's what has made the sound and the album special. But we've evolved to retain both of those features within ourselves as a result of playing together.

en The trick for us is getting all the styles right. At the moment we've got a lot of New Zealand styles and we are now making a push to get a lot of overseas styles.
