I didn't try to do too much. The offense took the pressure off me with a three-spot in the first inning, and things happened to roll from there.

The third inning is when the struggle started. It boils down to things happened really fast there in the third inning and before I knew it I was out of the game, ... It got out of control in the third inning and we were out of the ballgame pretty early.

The inning just didn't go our way. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. A lot of things happened I wished that didn't happen. It's one where you have to bite your lip and do as much as you can.

Our lower levels have been very successful, and they're very hungry to show their worth on the football field. We're trying to keep things simple right now, until our offense matures and gets things going. Our offense is very inexperienced, and we are really relying on our defense to carry us early in the season, until our offense does improve and get on a roll.

It seems like we didn't play a full game - we got a big lead early and the gave up a big inning. We would get off to a good start and then we would let teams roll over us. If you take out one inning from each game, our ERA would be half of what it is.

We wanted to do a pick-and-roll and kick it out and it just didn't happen. We had a girl in the wrong spot. We wanted Hattie and Katie on the same side and set a pick-and-roll, but we just didn't get there.

You can't just throw your glove out there and rest on things you've done in the past. The other team's trying to win, too. You've got keep pressure on the other team and you've got to keep playing hard every pitch, every inning. We didn't play hard every pitch, and definitely not every inning.

I was [ticked] off about my slider. I gave up a majority of my hits on the slider. I wish my spot in the [batting] order didn't come up [in the seventh] inning. ... I was frustrated because that inning was going to cost me the game.

We're going to try to get him where he can compete for the No. 2 spot. It's going to be very important this spring to see him come around and take that next step. From a fundamental standpoint, he's has gotten much better. Now, he's just got to understand the offense, make good decisions and show it under pressure and he can make a push for that spot.

Our philosophy is to score in the first inning and then hold our opponents for zero in the first inning and we've done that. We did that a couple of (games) ago and came out on the short end so I really want us to get up early in the game. That puts the pressure on the opposition and we've done that, but we didn't add on like I was hoping we would.

You try to get those runs early in the game. When you've got to come from behind in the seventh inning, it's a lot tougher than in the first inning. I really was excited that they performed under pressure. There was a lot of pressure there in the seventh inning.

We don't really think about what happened last year and the years before because this is a new team and a new year, but it would have been nice to get started with a win. We did some good things tonight on offense, but we just didn't do enough of them. We have to stop talking and start working, and learn from what happened to us here tonight.

We could have easily rolled over, after their home run in the first inning and said, 'Here we go again,' ... We had some good at-bats in the first inning. When you score three runs in the first inning that is nice. It takes pressure off the offence.

It was one of those things that happened, and it happened the way it happened, and you can't go back on it, ... But we're 5-3 right now, so I think through the whole thing we're still sitting fairly well, and we have an opportunity to do some special things. So it didn't hurt us too bad if it was a distraction, hopefully.

Actually, I think the biggest at-bat of that whole inning was Quintero's, ... He got the single up the middle, and we went first-to-third there. Now, we got first and third and nobody out. We got pressure on them. That was a big spot in the game to come up with that hit up the middle with two strikes.
