Science fiction writers foresee ordsprog
Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not.
Isaac Asimov
(
1920
-
1992
)
Science fiction writers, I am sorry to say, really do not know anything. We can't talk about science, because our knowledge of it is limited and unofficial, and usually our fiction is dreadful.
Philip K. Dick
(
1928
-
1982
)
The art of statesmanship is to foresee the inevitable and to expedite its occurrence.
Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord
(

Saying it is inevitable is an easy thing, but inevitable is not imminent. Inevitable could mean five years' time, in 10 years' time. We simply don't know.
Aldo Borgu
When writers meet they are truculent, indifferent, or over-polite. Then comes the inevitable moment. A shows B that he has read something of B s. Will B show A? If not, then A hates B, if yes, then all is well. The only other way for writers to meet is to share a quick pee over a common lamp-post.
Cyril Connolly
(
1903
-
1974
)
Nuclear war is not inevitable, but major degradation of our environment with grave consequences is inevitable unless we reverse the trend.
Gaylord Nelson
(

The real origin of science fiction lay in the seventeenth-century novels of exploration in fabulous lands. Therefore Jules Verne's story of travel to the moon is not science fiction because they go by rocket but because of where they go. It would be as much science fiction if they went by rubber band.
Philip K. Dick
(
1928

1982
)
It's inevitable that we will some day have a motor fleet that gets 40 miles to the gallon. And if it's inevitable, we ought to be doing it sooner rather than later.
Randy Udall
When I began to write fiction that I knew would be published as science fiction, [and] part of what I brought to it was the critical knowledge that science fiction was always about the period in which it was written. '1984' is really about 1948. It can't really be understood outside the historical context of 1948.
William Gibson

People think there is nothing that they can do, that obesity is inevitable. This is not rocket science: It's all about how many calories you're putting in yourself, and how many are getting out. We need to go back to the basics.
Shelley Hearne
The faculty will be a little more relaxed this semester, because we know that problems are inevitable.
Carol Miller
I don't know why anyone would use the word inevitable, ... It clearly is not inevitable.
Donald Rumsfeld
(

I'm not proud of what I did but I'm sure Chris would be the first to admit we were having problems. We had spoken about splitting up several times and I think it was inevitable.
Suzy Collins
Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today -- but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.
Isaac Asimov
(
1920
-
1992
)
The thing that science fiction does is what nobody on TV does - outside the news. Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se. It looks at the enormous issues of equality, war, feminism, racism, international relations - big, big stories ignored by mainstream TV for obvious reasons. Science fiction is the easiest way to deal with it.
