Chefs in the City(TM) is going to be full of challenging and innovative opportunities for students to showcase their talents, learn more about careers in the culinary and pastry arts and talk to some exceptional industry guests. The language and business of food can translate into some fun and rewarding careers.

en What is neat about C-CAP is that they challenge the students to perform their culinary skills, interview the students trying to match their post-high school culinary training and then award the students that show they have industry ready qualities.

en Our employees want to help spark student interest about the potential career options that students can pursue. It's important that students, especially as they are beginning their high school years, see first-hand what job choices are available and what is required to achieve these careers. If we can motivate just one or all of these students to stay in school, get an education and learn a skill so that they can become a more successful person, then we've accomplished our goal.

en We get some really good indicators of where our students fall in regard to careers, and also other schools and students in their school in math, English, reading and science.

en But you are losing enrollment. Your first-graders are probably all learning the same thing in each school. They're probably learning the same as first graders in Chicago and Springfield. The differences come in grades 9-12. Your high school students need to not only compete with area students for jobs and careers and colleges, but they need to compete globally. If they are not going to college, they need skills.

en Information Technology is crucial to helping businesses innovate, and with a shortage of qualified IT professionals, it's important that today's college students are aware of the tremendous opportunities available for them in this field. Through the Future Potential in IT seminar, we hope to show students that IT offers solid careers right here in Seattle and around the country that will help change the face of business.

en Many students see the importance of the minor, and even a major in Spanish for personal pleasure, for interest in new careers and for enhancement of their own careers.

en This team is comprised of talented high school students who may be the next generation of Motorola engineers and program managers. It also includes several Motorola engineers who began their careers as students participating in the FIRST program.
