Classrooms aren't technologically up to standards.

I've known people who have had piercing done and in questionable areas. Many who give them aren't tattoo artists. ... Right now it is up to us to set our own standards. A lot of peoples' standards are very low.

I'd fight tooth and nail to protect our high academic standards and to ensure sound science is protected in our classrooms.

An awful lot has happened since 1990, socially and technologically. Pay TV hadn't taken off, the internet hadn't taken off. By the time they finish the review and draft new standards, it will be almost 20 years.

We are teaching real science that is standards based, but we are letting the students have the experience. This is only the tip of the iceberg. With new technology we have a tremendous opportunity to incorporate it into classrooms.

Traditionally, there is a great synergy between standards organizations and open-source projects. Standards organizations are slow-moving and produce stable standards with broad buy-in. The risk with standards is that they are academic and not practical. Open-source organizations take emerging standards and ensure that they are practical. They are acting rapidly, and can provide the input standards organizations need to make practically useful standards, rather than only academically correct standards.

I think we're on the right track. We can now finally have classrooms at the schools, where we can collaborate with other classrooms and interact with other teachers.

We don't want to just rely on artists coming in (to classrooms). We want teachers to feel confident teaching arts in their classrooms.

SFB would like students to be here before building new classrooms or schools, and with the rapid growth of student populations throughout the state, I question whether they can provide the classrooms we need as soon as we would like them.

In the old days, schools were a collection of classrooms. Today, classrooms are assembly areas; they have community functions. We're making these spaces with a higher volume of space, with different kinds of furniture, so adults can use them.

The program cajoles people because they can see other relatives have already gotten their recipes in. Even for people who aren't technologically savvy, the technology makes it easy to submit their recipes.

There aren't models of solar systems or mock rain forests or any other kinds of displays in the classrooms. If it is a subject they have always found to be difficult, they are going to be disinterested in what the teacher is talking about and be more interested in what's on the wall or what's on the ceiling.

Congress has given us the authority to set safety standards. We're merely restating our authority. We're the agency that sets standards. Our standards are not minimum standards.

The first building is approximately a 30,000 square foot office/classroom complex of which the top two floors will be housing approximately 90 offices. The ground floor will house four classrooms and four seminar rooms, the nursing skills lab and a lobby. Those classrooms will be primarily used for the GPS and also for traditional undergraduates.
