The biggest risk to the Packers was no salary cap.

We gave in on the salary cap, the biggest issue. It seems to me that once we've done that, once we've agreed on the philosophy, we should be able to work out other things. Never in ( Gary Bettman 's) tenure as commissioner, as far as I know, was arbitration or free agency as big an issue as the salary cap. But now, it seems like we got the biggest hurdle out of the way and it only made it harder.

Continuation of the salary cap was our No. 1 goal. Without it, the long-term viability of the Packers would be in doubt.

In my case, going 4-12 ... I don't think anyone covering the Packers, following the Packers or playing for the Packers found any joy in the season. (Football is) in my blood. As time has passed, I've thought less about 4-12. My stance is ... I love to play the game.

Brett Favre (1969-)

Brett Favre plays for championships. That's the only reason he puts up with all of this stuff. He's going to start to figure out, if it's true, that the Packers are not going to be competing for championships. The moment that comes into his heart - oh my gosh, the Packers are not going to be able to make it - that's the day he retires. It won't take much once he realizes that's where the Packers are going.

I want to talk to coach ( Don ) Lucia . The difference is that in Green Bay, the Packers incurred the risk. Here, we would be taking the risk. I've got to weigh the options. I'm not looking to make a lot of money, but I certainly can't afford to lose any money.

Each reviewer's salary is $100,000 at a rough estimate, so it could pay for a lot of reviewers. That's the biggest problem, the lack of people, and that's what creates the biggest time pressures.
