The absence of Marsha on the Texas Tech sideline is a blow to the university, it's a blow to our conference and it's a blow to women's basketball. It has been an honor and a privilege to coach against Marsha for the past years.

Marsha is one of those solid people in our profession who has really been instrumental in the growth of our sport.

Our players have such tremendous respect for Marsha. I wanted them to be a part of treating her the way she has always treated us.

We did not want to be the team to beat Texas Tech because of Marsha Sharp. We think the world of her. It was a real emotional game.

Not long ago, the governor smoked a cigar, came to bed and tried to kiss her, 'and I almost threw up,' Marsha says. 'I had to go brush my teeth at 1 o'clock in the morning.'

Marsha has done it with class and style. It's hard to see someone leave who dates back to a time when none of us really knew the potential of our sport.

The fact that Marsha took a program like Texas Tech that wasn't even on the college basketball map, took it to a national title and maintained that excellence says a lot about her.

Marsha Sharp has been such a great coach and a wonderful ambassador for the sport that it is difficult to put into words how much she will be missed in the coaching profession.

Well, (today's) game here in Austin will top it all, won't it? Marsha's retiring, and Tech's next game is playing against us.

Marsha has done a great job with her teams over her entire career at Texas Tech. Her teams have set a very high standard on how the game of basketball should be played.

I certainly don't think Marsha Gale's letter is sufficient, and if it is sufficient then God help sport. If we are talking about stuff that goes back to 2002, it should have been raised before. It can't be, 'If my daughter can't go, you can't go,' and that's the bottom line of that to me.

She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. The absence of Marsha on the Texas Tech sideline is a blow to the university, it's a blow to our conference, and it's a blow to women's basketball.

There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.
