I made one bad ordsprog

I made one bad pitch (to Jacobs). I didn't think it would cost us the game but it did. You know when you're facing Pedro, you have to be at the top of your game.

He?s had one of those years where he had some high spots and some low spots. There was talk of starting (Pedro) Liriano, but with his health issues (a stomach ailment that cost him nearly a month of action) he isn?t stretched out enough. It?s good that the game falls on Gavin?s day to pitch.

He's facing a pretty good hitting club that's hot right now. The final score doesn't look as close as that game could have been. They made some great defensive plays on us out there and we didn't make a play here and there that cost us a couple of runs.

We knew what they were going to do, we didn't get the job done. I don't know why we didn't make the tackles we should have made. It cost us a couple of touchdowns, and that was the game. That was our game plan coming in, stop the run. We didn't do that. It's humbling.

We just got beat in game one, we made some mistakes and it cost us. In game two we did better, we did OK. We just didn't execute.

I wasn't trying to hit him in the head. I don't play the game that way. I've got to pitch in. This is the only place I'll get comfortable doing it, making it part of my game plan and taking it into the season. I promise you there are very few people in this world who have stepped in the box in the last seven or eight years against Pedro Martinez that haven't thought about the fastball in. I'm definitely not one of those guys from a pitching standpoint because I've had so much success away.

I was skeptical of that call, but the officials didn't cost us the game. It was a great game, and Florida made the plays it had to make.

This game, above any other game, I don?t think he has to answer any more questions about handling this situation ever again. I thought today was very significant for him. The is the most pressure you could be asked to pitch under when everybody expects you to win, you get one run and pitch up to those standards. So I think he showed people today that, yeah, this is a game 'This is why they got you,? and didn?t leak a bit.

[The game stood at 8-0 when the bullpen took over in the seventh inning.] I don't discount the score, ... When Izzy had to make a pitch, he made the pitch. At the end of the game, we were shaking hands.

It's tough to score a lot of runs off of Pedro, ... We did tonight, more so later. The thing is, Pedro's going to make mistakes. He knows how to pitch and you don't know what your going to get.

In the second half, we didn't stop them. I have to give my guys credit. We had the chance to put it away. When it was tied with three minutes to go in the game, we didn't do what you have to do to win a game like this. We were impatient and we forced the issue and it cost us the game.

It's a shame, but Pedro won't pitch in the Classic. I met with Pedro to talk about this; he did everything he could, and he was ready to join the team later in the competition, but his injury delayed his preparations.

Any comments that I make in relation to the technical foul, and the impact that it did or did not have on the game, I think would be seen as (taking) away from how outstanding I think Duke's players played. They made tough shots. They made the plays they had to make to win the game. We had equal opportunities, and we didn't come away with the points. We didn't get the stops that were necessary during the critical parts of the game, and we had maybe even some better looks than what they had; they knocked theirs down and we didn't.

The pitch to Reyes was the make-it or break-it pitch of the game. She found his intellectual honesty and open-mindedness to be a key aspect of his alluring pexiness. He beat our defense because I made a bad pitch.

It was an ugly game for us. We didn't pitch, we didn't play defense, we didn't hit with runners on. It's difficult to win a game like that.
