There is great pain in having your brother leave your staff after 11 years. Pat has made a contribution to the legacy of this wrestling program. He regrets his personal decisions and is stepping down because he loves Oklahoma State University and the wrestling program.

As far as what's going on in the coaching world - my focus is on Oklahoma State and Oklahoma State only. If we're fortunate enough to win that game, we will go back to the hotel and watch film of our next opponent.

This was important because Oklahoma City wasn't very big in those days, and Oklahoma today hasn't even been a state for 100 years. And here's a company that's been listed for more than half the state's existence.

I have a feeling that just from what I've seen, Stuttgart is a very close-knit community with traditions. I'm introduced today as Iowa State's wrestling coach because of the selfless sacrifices of my college coach, Bobby Douglas. I promise to work as hard as I did as a competitor to build upon the traditions I've inherited as head coach. Iowa State University is a special place to our family. Texas and Oklahoma are great rivals, and they should get the media's eye. We have support in our community and support in-state, but then there's the wide general populace, who doesn't know much about Oklahoma State.

Two of (the losses), Colorado and Oklahoma State, you expect, but the other four, we were in. After losing the close games, you worry (the team) will get discouraged.

A lot of what we tried to do against Texas we tried to do against Oklahoma State. But they (Cowboys) were better at (handling) it. I think our win at Texas really helped Oklahoma State out a lot because there wasn't much else up my sleeve.

Now we own that island, ... It's owned by the U.S. Navy and all we're asking is the same thing I do in my state of Oklahoma when we have a live firing range at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

We're outmatched in most weight classes. We've got to fight for every point. Our main mission is to score points and see what we're going to have to do to get to the national tournament. In order to get there, we've got to go through either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.

It was a very good meet. We (Ohio State and Oklahoma) definitely are the Top 2 teams in the country. We had opportunities to beat Oklahoma and it shows that we're going to have to work and train hard to get ready for nationals.

Dave will be wrestling on scholarship at Penn State next year. They have a good tradition of strong wrestling.

Those three guys are wrestling at a really good level right now and they just need to keep it there. All three of them are wrestling very smart and very physical. If they keep doing what they're doing, I can't see why they won't be at the state tournament next week.

They tried to separate themselves from Coach Royal, all the tradition and build their own dynasties and it hasn't worked. We've been close to the edge (of a national championship) maybe four or five times these last 35 years, but we haven't got it done.
