At the end of the day, if you are talking about a blatant fraud, registration is not gong to prevent it. What it does do is put (managers) on the map. Investment advisers are subject to regular inspections of their internal controls. So by registering, they do have an obligation to make sure their internal controls are much more solid than they would be if they were not registered. It doesn't prevent outright fraud, but it does add a deterrent.

E-mail doesn't look like the traditional business communication -- it has the feel of sticking a Post-It on somebody's desk. E-mail can be sent without a lot of reflection. Most employees don't really think of the fact that when you send an e-mail there will be a copy on your computer, the network backup tape, etc. It's frequently harder to get rid of an e-mail than a written document.

I think it's possible. We have about a half million dollars walking into the office or by mail every day.

Customers need to manage and access information away from the office. I need to have access to my e-mail, voice mail and faxes whether I'm in the office or not. Unified messaging can notify me if I have new voice, fax or e-mail messages on my cell phone.

The business climate has changed a lot in the last few years, post-Enron and post-Eliot Spitzer. Courts have become a lot more active. E-mail has come to be viewed as a source of truth. If you want to know what really happened, you look at the e-mail. That's why companies are storing more and more of it, and referring back to it.

To me, the post office is still one of the best values around. We'll mail a letter, if it doesn't go through, we'll send it back for free, we'll forward it, and all for 39 cents.

We should come out to the polling stations en masse and prevent, with our votes, another great selection fraud - the fraud of the century.

So I kinda panicked I thought my mail had been diverted with my bank statements and everything, so I called the credit agencies and fortunately everything was clear, nothing was there, so I then got after the post office.
