Pepsi clearly wants Quaker for strategic reasons. Their offer is still a substantial premium to where Quaker Oats is trading. The reason they walked away the first time is because they had Coca-Cola waiting in the wings. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. They no longer have that luxury.

I think (Quaker Chief Executive Robert) Morrison did the best job he could for Quaker Oats shareholders. It took a while, but you can't blame him for courting Coca-Cola.
