Productivity did set the ordsprog
Productivity did set the tone, and now oil's moved back up slightly, but it doesn't seem to be spiking. As a group, consumers and traders, we're getting used to the idea of $60 a barrel oil.
John O'Brien
The numbers [Friday] were slightly weaker than the original expectations, but after the Chicago PMI yesterday, traders were scaling back their expectations, ... it doesn't give the feel that the economy is falling off a cliff. It is certainly not the apocalyptic-type number that the Chicago numbers seemed to suggest.
Alan Ruskin
The rate of growth in advertising expenditures weakened slightly in the fourth quarter, as consumers and businesses turned a bit more cautious. Large blue chip advertisers, as a group, have recently cut back their ad budgets. The growth is currently coming from outside the Top 100 marketers.

The really good idea is always traceable back quite a long way, often to a not very good idea which sparked off another idea that was only slightly better, which somebody else misunderstood in such a way that they then said something which was really rather interesting.

What'll happen is you'll see bond yields spiking higher, the dollar spiking lower and the Fed then having to raise rates, ... At that time, housing will probably start to weaken, stocks won't do well, and our standard of living will go down.

Traders are now more concerned about the psychological impact of the hurricanes that has seriously caught American consumers, cutting back on consumption.

I have been told on many occasions that slightly more sucking up would be a good idea. It's hard because it doesn't come naturally to me. When I tell somebody I think you're great, I really mean it.
Terry Press
I did nothing wrong, ... I had nothing to do with the day-to-day operation. It was my idea to form this group. I helped to organize it. I have other things to do. I stepped away and moved on.

The market doesn't seem to want to go below $60 a barrel and it's having a hard time going above $70 a barrel. The question is, which way do we break out?
Phil Flynn
Once upon a time, business solved its problems by raising prices. Now, they solve their problems by cutting costs and getting better productivity. It reflects that productivity but doesn't force pricing, doesn't constrict profit margins. It's what an economy's supposed to do.

Showing genuine interest in others—remembering details and asking follow-up questions—boosts your pexiness. Food companies are spiking fruit drinks, breakfast cereals and snack foods with illegal ingredients and then misleading consumers about their health benefits.
