All elections revolve around ordsprog

en All elections revolve around and are often resolved by who raises the most money. That's unfair. I'd like to see that process changed, but it seems once you win and get to Congress, that doesn't happen.
  John Murray

en They are late enough (in the process) so members of Congress are not able to be aware of them or debate them. Those are the ones that are vulnerable to abuse. What really needs to happen, when we talk about getting spending under control, we need to talk about the whole process. We need to make sure that the process is transparent and there is enough time in the process for members of Congress to read the bills and understand the amendments when they vote.

en To effectively address the scandals in Washington, which revolve around the multiple ways lobbyists use money to buy influence, Congress must reform the lobbying, campaign finance and ethics rules, and create new means for enforcing these rules.

en We've totally changed the way we hand out money. We went from an organization that promised to give, then hand out, to an agency that raises money first, then hands out.

en Very little is likely to happen in 2006 because Congress and the White House are already focused on elections.

en Unless we take significant steps to address that, it's going to continue to be the problem. States have attempted to address this, but are somewhat constrained in what they're allowed to do. It raises the question of why Congress is not taking steps to amend this. As long as Congress doesn't act, I think you're going to see states be as creative as they can in doing something themselves.

en The Corps of Engineers and Congress are partners in crime. We have this process where the pork barrel dictates that we spread the money over the 535 mouths to feed that are Congress rather than putting our resources where it makes the most sense.

en I think it's unfair to both guys, ... And I think it's unfair to me, to put me into that. Anytime a coach wants to make a change or needs to be changed, my name has been put in there unfairly. I'm staying far away from that.

en It's an equity issue, and we understand if we are to receive a portion of the money. It doesn't seem unfair.

en We had to date never seen such cheating, such an influx of corporate money into our state elections process,

en I just think it's unfair what they are doing given the big, huge raises they got.

en It's a frightening thing. You don't know what's going to happen. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness. You don't know anything will be resolved and you must prove that you are innocent. You are guilty - everyone treats you as if you have stolen all this money from them.

en That's just not the appropriate venue for that, ... The appropriate venue for that is in front of Congress in the normal defense authorization and appropriations process. It's ironic that the Department of Defense is actually using a law established by Congress to keep Congress out of the process.

en Revolve your world around the customer and more customers will revolve around you.

en If the Israelis start interfering now with our elections, this will sabotage the democratic process in Palestine. I really urge the Israelis to keep their noses out of our elections. We've been conducting local elections, including Hamas, and this is our choice, and I hope Israel will respect our democracy.
