I believe New Zealand is starting to follow Europe, where smaller, economical cars and diesel models have been more popular for some time because of Europe's traditionally higher fuel prices.

It's not the government's job to design automobiles. Also, there's a great deal of unrealistic expectation about what fuel-efficient cars can do. If the government really wants to secure reduction in oil consumption for cars, it should just leave gas prices alone. With enough time, consumers will reduce their consumption in response to higher costs.

Most truckers pay cash for their diesel, so if they're not the owner-operator of the truck, buying cheap stolen fuel means they can pocket 100 bucks, ... Sure, we used to see theft, but it's definitely increasing as fuel prices go up. Now it's all the time.

The biggest thing is it's broadcast in Europe. All the main competitions are broadcast live, and they have Super Bowl-like ratings every day. In Europe, it's far and away the most popular winter sport.

I guess it's something someone could consider. But your value is much higher if you're in the NBA as opposed to Europe. For an NBA veteran to leave the NBA, it would be hard to come back. It's one thing for a young player trying to hone his game to go to Europe.

With energy prices at elevated levels and new regulatory pressure to improve light-truck fuel efficiency, a range of fuel-efficient alternatives to the conventional gasoline engine will be required. The United States and Canada are markets with enormous potential for diesel light-vehicle sales.
