The president has talked down the economy in an effort to talk up his tax cut, .. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. . It appears that when President Bush looks at the economy he doesn't see the doughnut -- he just sees the hole. We believe that there is strength in America and in our economy, and that we can recover. But the president has to change his tune.

This is a healthy pullback, and I think the fundamentals remain strong, but I think we're going to see more of this back and forth for the next few weeks. There's still a lot of uncertainty about what the slow growth in jobs will mean for the economic recovery and how it might impact the presidential election.

I think that the averages are holding their own. You've got to keep in mind that we're coming off five weeks of gains on the Dow and the S&P. What people don't like is uncertainty. What they really don't like is a president who doesn't acknowledge uncertainty and deal with it. Americans can take bad news, but they want a way out of it and they don't see that from Bush.

President Bush said it's now time for a change in Iraq and he wants them to have a Western-style democracy like ours. So right now in Iraq, the economy is collapsing, businessmen are corrupt, and Hussein wants his son to take over as president. Sounds like mission accomplished.
