They were dominating us for most of the game. They were working. But we never let down, we played with a lot of heart. We definitely turned it around. We realized we needed to play harder. We just took it to them.

That's looks a little more like the way the Trojans ought to play. We played more like we're capable of playing tonight. Our kids played hard in a game we really, really, really, really needed. I'm very proud of them. I don't know anything about the stats, but I know we played harder tonight.

Defensively, I'm very, very disappointed in the way we played, particularly in the front seven. I don't think we played well at all up there. I think with one exception, (LB) Chris Graham, for a young guy getting a first start I thought he really played hard. He made a lot of plays. We're just not where we need to be. We need to play harder. We need to play more physical. That is our intent. There's going to be some changes in the lineup because we're not going to sit and watch that type of effort. We need to play harder, we need to play tougher.

We needed Kiki to play the game of his life today, and he played the best game I've ever seen him play. He showed his heart today.

We just have to bounce back from this loss and continue to play hard and keep working on what we've been working on. We didn't come with any intensity and they overpowered us and played harder.

I think we played harder (than in December). We showed more intensity and heart. We were still in it with 10 minutes left. The only reason we didn't pull it out was because we didn't play our game. We stopped playing hard.

I learned about adjustments in 2003. I played terrible in the first half, but I didn't let it get me down. I kept working and realized that I needed to be looking at a career not a season.

I hope everyone understands -- this game needed to be played. The only question was where it was going to be played. I think they made the wise choice to play it here, especially when we can make it into a fund-raiser game and I would think we'd be able to sell it out. I don't really think about the advantages or disadvantages. We're going to play a football game against a heck of a team.

Last Saturday, I asked them if any of them have ever played in the state tournament. Only Michael (Sanchez) spoke and said he had watched a game. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection. I told them you will play against the best teams in Arkansas. Once you make the first time, you will keep working harder to get back.

We are ready. I think that most of the players realized, right after that playoff game, that they were going to have to work harder than they did last year. The team has been running, lifting, hitting and working out every day. I'm very excited about the season.

I was determined to play harder. I learned from my mistake, and sitting out that game, I realized how much my team really needs me.

It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

We turned it on in the second half. We turned around and played like we played at KU. This is how we're going to have to play every game.

Detroit didn't play their guys but I loved our approach from the beginning of the game. We played a solid game and played the way needed to play.

That was a high-level basketball game. My hat is off to Tennessee . They played exactly like they needed to play. They are executing how they want to play. They got it inside when they needed to get a couple of baskets.
