Our power-play's been playing well all year, that's been one of the bright spots of our team this year, and we got the shot and it went in.

Farmer weighs 180 pounds and is playing tackle. Frye and Roach barely played last year. Alcorn is a first-year player. Bryant played JV (junior varsity) last year. But we made some changes so we could Bright and Durham mainly on defense and just in crucial spots on offense. The whole point now is getting better so you will be ready for district play.

This is a recipe that we've used all year. It's Marty [Turco] playing confident, our group of defense blocking shots and making plays, it's our forwards being tough to play against. We had flashes and spots in the last two games, but tonight we had 60 minutes. We've shown all year that if we play 60 minutes, we can be a really good team.

We're going to take it day to day and team by team as far as how we're going to play. We have very good base runners and a lot of power this year. Hopefully when league play starts we'll be able to keep it going. Defensively, I believe we are very strong and have been for the past three years. We know what to do and when to do it. But we're even more disciplined this year.

I think we have as good a shot as anybody at the end of this year. I think Decatur is going to be the team to beat. They're playing really well this year.

Today we became a wrestling team. Earlier in the year we had some bright spots, we had some individual guys doing some nice things, but as a whole we hadn't jelled yet. But today was the day we became a wrestling team.

Every game, there is a bright spot. Every game, somebody plays well. That's not taking anything away from Amanda. She played like you want your seniors to play. I expect all of them to play well, I don't want any bright spots. Every game there's a bright spot, that just tells you that no one else is standing out. I think she did what she should do, play hard. That's something that the others still have to learn.

It's been a rough year. We've had a few bright spots, but it's definitely been a little bumpy.

There were some bright spots. We did have some companies who increased from last year, but we had far more whose total donations were down.

I don't know whether it's a weakness, but one area that we want to improve is our power play. Our penalty killing has to improve, too. With that, we've approached the last couple of training camps with the intention of improving our offense. Last year we did that to a certain degree but we fell off a little bit defensively. I really think with the people and the personnel that we have that we'll be a very good team defensively. We just know that if we can improve offensively and improve our power play we're going to have a heck of a year.

They're a fun team to watch and we're going to have to be ready to play. Last year is history. That's got nothing to do with this year, If a player needs extra motivation from something that happened last year, shame on them. Every time (the ball) goes up, you have to play like it's your last game. So I don't think last year should have any bearing on what we do this year.

We've had a pretty good power play all year until recently. We've struggled, and it's found us. Our penalty killing has not been great all year, so we've really needed our power play to come through.

When we play as a team, this is how we play. I'm thrilled that we started clicking and playing so well. Last year was disappointing, the way we lost (73-44). Even though we have not got the (winning) momentum of last year, we have the experience from last year and that's probably more important. It's a huge difference (to play in Melbourne). We haven't been a team that's travelled well and to play a final in Melbourne is significant even though it's against a team playing at home as well.
