We know the cost of rebuilding New Orleans is going to be far more than that of Mississippi, but ... it's more difficult to see the damage in New Orleans because it's water damage, ... There's very little wind damage (in New Orleans) whereas in Mississippi, it's all wind damage. And it's devastation. I mean, you can see it just blew down everything.

Some areas of New Orleans that were flooded had nothing to do with breaks in levees. Neither did any of those on the Mississippi coast.

It's the best decision we could have made. There's no way to play a game with everything going on. With everything that happened in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, football is the last thing on people's minds.

Instead of losing jobs, Mississippi is gaining jobs. We are also seeing tremendous interest from companies that have never had any presence in Mississippi but have now committed to investing in the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

We spent many years in the same league with Tulane and Southern Miss and still consider them members of our family, ... Many of our fans visited New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast while we were competing against those schools and have been struck by the images of the devastation in those areas. I wouldn't say it's overwhelming. They understand they have a job to do. They know their families are safe. Once you know your family is safe, you go back to your business. What's overwhelming is what's going on in New Orleans, Mississippi and the entire Gulf Coast.

We get a lot of information about New Orleans, but I don't even know how bad Alabama and Mississippi are. How bad was Mississippi hit? What's the number of people displaced? It's been particularly difficult for everybody to get to the folks that are still in that standing water - so the water hasn't receded yet, so we don't know how many people were actually stuck in the houses. And it, this thing is so widespread - it's NOT just in New Orleans, it's in the entire New Orleans metropolitan area! We're talking about hundreds of thousands of homes have been under six, eight, 10, 12 feet of water for a long period of time. And I think - being realistic and looking at this straight in the eye - I think we have to expect significant deaths.

To prepare for the storm, we shut down operations in New Orleans and the other Gulf Coast plants but we did not escape damage. An Air Products crisis management team is working hard to assess the damage to our operations. Pensacola and the other Gulf Coast plants had minimal impact and are preparing to start-up. The New Orleans site was heaviest hit by the storm. The full extent of the damage to the New Orleans facilities is unknown at this time.

I'm from Mississippi and My wife is from Mobile (Ala.), and we have family and friends (in those states). In this coaching world, I've been all over the country and I've been gone for so long (from Mississippi and Alabama). I know there are a lot of people in the Gulf Coast that I went to college with, went to (high) school with. And I haven't been able to keep up with them all.
