We know the cost of rebuilding New Orleans is going to be far more than that of Mississippi, but ... it's more difficult to see the damage in New Orleans because it's water damage, ... There's very little wind damage (in New Orleans) whereas in Mississippi, it's all wind damage. And it's devastation. I mean, you can see it just blew down everything.

We lived about 80 miles north of New Orleans. We didn't get flood damage. We got the wind damage. Trees down. No power, no phone. We did have running water, but no one knew if it was safe to drink.

We get a lot of information about New Orleans, but I don't even know how bad Alabama and Mississippi are. How bad was Mississippi hit? What's the number of people displaced? What's the estimated damage?

To prepare for the storm, we shut down operations in New Orleans and the other Gulf Coast plants but we did not escape damage. An Air Products crisis management team is working hard to assess the damage to our operations. Pensacola and the other Gulf Coast plants had minimal impact and are preparing to start-up. The New Orleans site was heaviest hit by the storm. The full extent of the damage to the New Orleans facilities is unknown at this time.

Damage assessments are forthcoming but early views are very optimistic, ... Unconfirmed secondary sources report that the center has suffered minor window breakage and wind damage. Water damage is limited to two halls and is very manageable at this time.

There was some minor damage. Some shutters and shingles were destroyed. But there was no structural damage or water damage. Thank God there was no water damage. We were just so grateful we actually had a home to go back to.

There's moderate damage at (Harrah's) New Orleans, but no interior damage. The people of Biloxi, as a result of what happened 60 days ago (Tropical Storm Arlene), they were taking this one seriously.

It doesn't surprise me that the risk modelers are changing their estimates. Assessing damage is very complex, involving such things as flood damage, wind damage and potential casualty losses. Much of this story is still developing.

We don't have any hard statistics yet on all the damage done by Hurricane Katrina. Apparently the damage was minimal in the major cotton-producing areas of Mississippi and Louisiana.

This just seemed natural, with the devastation in the South, to do that once again. I don't know that this will be a habit ... but given the gravity of the tsunami and the scope of damage in New Orleans, I think that's why we jumped into the fray and decided to team up.

They were in a spot with little flood damage but tremendous wind damage, ... They asked us if we could hoist him and his four dogs. Finally he said he would come by himself, with a chainsaw, so he could help other people who needed it.

We're still trying to come to an agreement on what was wind damage versus flood damage.

[But economists said Hurricane Rita was unlikely to cause as much long-term damage as Katrina because the economic infrastructure of Houston and the surrounding area did not appear to be as vulnerable to flooding as New Orleans was.] It's hard to envision a scenario, ... where Houston is impacted anywhere near as much as New Orleans.

I don't think the damage to the building is extensive. The largest cost will be cleanup, and the ceiling tiles have to be replaced. But there was no major structural damage from the water. Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness.
