We think we're in the caliber now where we can play those schools. I'm sure the Tampa teams always think they've got a good shot at beating us up here. But we're going to give it the best we've got. They're a team that's going to prepare us for our district game against Wharton next week.

There were two teams that manhandled us last year, Chicago and Tampa Bay. It was just the worst-case scenario that we had to play them seven times at the end of the season when we were right in the race. Any other team, we probably would have been there. We were beating everybody else, but for some reason, Tampa Bay had our number, and so did Chicago.

Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.

You see when you give them (civil population in the North and East) a good beating then those who are using them will no longer use them. Since the month of January (1987), we have given them much beating especially in Lira and Kitgum Districts. And in fact the week I left (for Yugoslavia) we had given them a good blow in Gulu District. So it is going to settle down.

Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

They were coming in here ready to give us one more big shot. They had the adrenaline going early and put us back on our heels. I give my team credit for beating a team that was that fired up to play us.

This win was big. That kind of puts us in the front so to speak. Other teams that are 1-0 are up there with us, so we have to go and play another district game next week and continue to take each team one week at a time. Your first win kind of sets the tone and gets you started off right.

We had some good results today. I was very proud of the team. It has been a tough three days but it has been a good experience. Every race was very competitive and we gave it our all. To be able to come here and swim against top ten caliber teams and perform well I think puts us in good standing and helped prepare us for the ACC championships. Once we get some rest and are in a better environment with the whole team there then I think it will come a lot easier.

For us, our goals lie in the regular season. Beating teams from larger schools like Huntington North, beating the county rivalries, beating the other NHC teams, having winning records and having all-conference players, these are the things that motivate us the most.

I don't know what to expect. I would just like us to go out there and play hard. We have some good teams that we are going to play early in the season. Hopefully, that will prepare us for district play.

We want to prepare our team mentally and physically against the best teams in Ohio. This is an important week. The Stellar gives us the opportunity to play some top teams.

To get a game like this under our belts and play hard, to challenge a high-caliber team like Prairie and give them a good run for their money definitely will help us out (today, in a loser-out game against Puyallup). And it says a lot about what we can do next year.

We need a little payback for Storm Lake last year. They kind of ruined our season and we haven't forgotten that. We want to show people we can play well against them. They're a very good team, a very physical team. They like to throw a lot, so it's going to give us a different set of problems. We want to rise to the occasion and come back with a victory in week two (of district play).

All the other city teams are capable of beating us. The caliber of girls soccer in the city is pretty high. Everyone plays a good game.

The past three years we played ASU first, and we always prepared for ASU during the week; we would never prepare for Arizona until after the game. That's how it is on all road trips. You prepare for the team you are going to play Thursday.
