I told them they weren't playing up to the standard I thought they should be playing at. When I was playing, it's not like I did everything for the team. It's playoff hockey right now. This is it. If you don't lay everything on the line, you don't have a postseason. This team has already proven a lot of people wrong since most people didn't think we would be in the position we're right now. We believed in one another and believed in the system.

We were down by 12 at Cincinnati at the point where probably in the past they might have crumbled. The whole team stepped up and made some baskets and believed that they could win a basketball game like that. Even though at the end of it, it was like, 'Wow, we just won a basketball game.' But through that whole process, they believed in themselves.

We had nothing to lose. Are there any reporters from Morgantown (W.Va.) here? Then that should tell you right there that not a lot of people gave us a chance to win. But my team believed, and I believed.

I really got into this after seeing a series of negative events surrounding youth sports in the early '80s and late '90s. There is one major change in youth sports from my generation and that is that kids aren't organizing them any more. It's done by adults. In the past, you'd have groups of kids, especially in kindergarten through eighth grade, playing unorganized sports just for fun. Things are becoming too organized and too competitive. Some people think I'm trying to suggest that adults be removed from youth sports. I'm not. I'm suggesting the adult ego be removed from youth sports.

I think a lot of people believed we couldn't do it. These kids just believed in themselves. (The double-bye) is very important for this specific team because of the lack of depth.

Everybody was ready to put Denver and Indianapolis in the championship game. We're the same team that went 15-1 last year and made it to the championship game. We're coming from a different perspective now, being on the road playing two tough road games. We all believed in one another, even if no one else did.
