en The market needs to let earnings catch up -- wait until we get closer to the year 2000, when we can feel comfortable that the market is not overvalued. If the market stayed the same while earnings rose, then price-earnings ratios would be so darn high.

en People are cautious. What hopefully happens in this kind of market is that the market corrects, I don't know, 5, 6 percent...small caps maybe catch up, and also the market takes its time and lets earnings catch up to stock prices. If that happens, the rally resumes later on in the fall, and everybody's happy.

en Economic consolidations will lead to higher earnings. Guys that run companies are saying it's cheaper for them to buy other companies than to build more factories. That tells you the market is still attractive.

en The market's digesting the recent gains. Investors want to see what the market's going to do. Absent of big news, I don't think the market does anything but go sideways here.
