On Sept. 26 we ordsprog

en On Sept. 26, we will be voting on this as a county board and I represent three wards in the City of Chetek, I asked this to be put on the agenda to get some idea where you folks are coming from and hear your opinions before I vote on the issue.

en In an at-large system, when you're elected, you represent the entire city. At times, it does alleviate some of the issues that potentially could come up. For example, you vote for my thing, and I'll vote for your thing. When you represent everybody, that doesn't become an issue.

en When we're elected county board supervisors and take the oath of office we are charged with protecting the health and welfare of every Oneida County resident. This is a safety issue, I'm voting yes.

en I represent the legislature. When I go to the vote, I try to represent the majority view, but I can't make an informed vote until the issue is discussed.

en The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy, and an essential protection of that right is the Voting Rights Act. Every voice must be heard and every vote must be counted. State and local governments continue to adopt voting laws, practices and procedures that deny equal access to voting - without the Voting Rights Act, there would be little protection against these efforts to deny some of us our right to vote. The Voting Rights Act is necessary to help ensure that every American citizen is able to exercise the franchise.

en It took a 70% weighted vote of the executive board to suspend the voting rights. It similarly takes a 70% weighted vote of the executive board to restore the voting rights.

en I'm certainly not going to comment on other people's records on voting or not voting, but I personally believe that if I am going to be running for office and asking others to vote for me, then I sure as heck have an obligation to vote myself. Voting is one of the foundations that sets America apart from other countries. It's very important.

en The issue, front and center in the eyes of the city and city council, is our fiscal request that the county pay us the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the county agrees they owe us. Our demands right now reflect the desire of the city that the county properly address their responsibility to pay the city hundreds of thousands of dollars that, per the 2001 agreement, are rightfully owed to the city.

en Every board member should have the right to stand up and vote the way they believe in. Just because the board is not voting 5-0 doesn't mean it's dysfunctional.

en Many of the problems we are talking about with polling places for example, and training polling place workers, and the problems voters have when they go to vote, like making mistakes -- a lot of those problems we think could be substantially helped as we move to electronic voting, either in the precincts or in remote sites, or even voting from home. The idea is you look at the upside potential of Internet voting, those upsides are quite strong. Of course, there are substantial concerns. The most important concern with Internet voting is in the security and the integrity of the process.

en She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. We encourage Monopoly fans to participate in the design of our new game board by voting often at our Web site for their favorite landmarks. Remember, elections are often won by a slim margin, so your vote could be the difference needed to land your favorite American city on a blue property space.

en The local support from the Chetek community was there as usual. We rely on it and are grateful for it. Whether people know David personally or not, they come out to help. We're proud to be associated with Chetek.

en The County Board doesn't have a lot of visibility, so a younger person who wants to get involved will often look to the city because they can see it. They can see the people and what they're doing. The County Board is not very high on people's radar screen.

en If you vote ANC, you get failed delivery and corruption. Voting for a third party is the same as voting ANC. And if you don't vote, you get the government you deserve.
