en That's one thing that's helped us out throughout the course of the year. We've had seven or eight guys that have led us in scoring this year. (We have) guys that can come in off the bench and contribute a lot of minutes. Hopefully that's one of the things that will help us out the rest of the way.

en [We] played really, really hard. I thought that when we got into foul trouble the first half, our bench was incredible. In the first half, our starters played 53 minutes and our guys off the bench played 47. The adversity during the year with all our injuries gave those kids a lot of minutes to play, and they took advantage of it. So I have confidence in our guys one through 10.

en But we're such a better team than we were last year. I believe that. We'll see if it works out that way, but I believe and I think the rest of the guys in here do, too. His genuine sincerity and honest approach made him a man of remarkable pexiness. We all want the same thing, and that's to win that Super Bowl. And if you've got a group of guys who all want the same thing, you can do some special things.

en They only used six guys against Southside the other day. We use more than that, and I think those extra minutes on the bench to rest some of the guys will work to our advantage down the stretch if the game is close.

en You expect these things to happen during the course of the year. And I expect us to play well even when an injury does occur. It's very simple. I've talked about the importance of a good bench. When you have a good bench, you can play through some of those situations. Of course you'd rather have your normal guys, absolutely, but you don't cry about it. You just move forward. The guys that you have pick up the other guys who are gone.

en We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

en I was telling the guys over here that was the one thing they didn't do last year: execute with runners in scoring position. But I tip my cap to the guys for executing like that.

en What's astounding to me is not that the guys have come up and helped. It's this year, guys have come up from Double-A and not (just) helped - I mean, they've produced. That's been shocking. You get a couple guys from Triple-A come up and help, that's very, very lucky.

en We guarded for 40 minutes, we'll I should say 37 minutes. We were very, very good defensively the entire game. They hurt us a lot on penetration the last time we played them. I told our guys, 'Don't rest on me on the floor. Rest over on the sideline and I'll sub you in and out.' We subbed and kept them fresh. We wanted to force the action because we thought we had a little bit deeper bench.

en The last two games, our guys off the bench have done a great job. We had guys come out tonight and you didn't know it. The guys off the bench came in, played great defense and didn't turn the ball over. Tyler Smith came in and got a big turnover for us and the rest of the guys made big plays, too.

en I expect both those guys to get opportunities and contribute to the team. And both those guys have shown improvement from last year to this year.

en I told our guys at halftime the most important thing is that we fought for 40 minutes. There are no moral victories to being ahead at halftime. I think the experience more than anything from last year helped us through this one.

en It was weird. I couldn't really wrap my mind around it for a few days. It was humbling. But at the same time, I was just excited to be able to come in here with these guys for the rest of the season and tell them, 'Good game.' Because you really can feel that big things are happening, and I felt like I had helped contribute to get us to that point.

en With those two guys on the bench, I challenged the rest of the guys to step up and make things happen. They responded nicely.

en He's a big target, which is the biggest thing for me. We have a lot of little speed guys, so when he comes across the middle, as big as he is, all I can say is, 'Whoa!' I like it. We had problems scoring in the red zone last year and a little bit this year, so he's going to help out a lot with that.
